Classes - Groups and Sessions

Our classes cover all ability groups from gymnasts who come for fun, to those who compete at various levels. All our classes are run in accordance with the British Gymnastics guidelines and are regularly monitored by the clubs Management team. Competitive classes are by invitation only, after consultation with parents/guardians, coaches and gymnasts.

The current full session timetables and Term dates are listed here.

We have a coach qualified to run 'Fun 4 Baby' classes, for babies from 8 weeks old, but unfortunately our present facility does not accommodate these classes.

Parent and Toddler Sessions

These are one hour long, mixed sessions for boys and girls with the parent/minder staying with the child for the whole session. These sessions include a mixture of controlled skill learning experiences with qualified coaches and fun while following instructions from the coaches. Children use the apparatus and soft play equipment in a safe supervised environment. Group numbers are kept below twenty and are for children who are walking up to 3 years of age.

Sessions are held as follows:

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday : 10.00am to 11.00am

Fee: £42.90 per term

Pre-School Sessions

These are mixed sessions for boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 6. At this stage, on the whole, the children do not need their parents to stay with them. The sessions are based upon circuit stations and the development of basic gymnastic skills through gross motor skills learning.

Age 3 to 4 years:
These are one hour long, mixed classes running along similar lines to Parent and Toddler but with more structured gymnastic work, parents/carers leave the children for half of the class.
_________

Age 4 to 5 years:
These are one hour mixed classes where children now stay without parents/carers and work towards award badges. Skill related with movement, hand eye co-ordination and balance are key features. These sessions develop gross motor skills and provide a sound foundation for future gymnastic developments.

Age 5 to 6 years:
These are one hour classes - currently for girls only. Here the children stay without parents/carers. These sessions further develop gross motor skills to provide a sound foundation for future gymnastic developments.

General Gymnastics - Recreational Groups

Our recreational, or general gymnastics, classes are grouped in age from 5 years to adults, training on a variety of days and times. These sessions also work towards BAGA & DAGA Award Badges and children learn a wide variety of skills on different apparatus. The recreational gymnasts get a chance to compete in our Club Championships held annually in December, and local recreational competitions at Exeter and Teignmouth. There is also an opportunity for them to progress to our Squad classes.

In these sessions boys and girls have separate classes.

Competitive Groups (Squad)

Competing gymnasts train between two and four session per week for two or three hours at a time according to their ability level. Places are by invitation of the Head Coach and are constantly under review with selection days held regularly.

Our competition girls train towards and compete regularly at county level, and have competed at Regional and National level representing the County. Squad coaches are qualified to a high standard.

Our competition boys train towards and compete regularly at County level.

Tuesday and Wednesday 4.30 to 8.00pm, Friday 5.00 to 9.00pm, & Saturday 1.00 to 5.00pm
