Guidance for Members
This page is intended to help members and to outline some of the required standards.
Dress Code
For safety reasons the following rules must be adhered to:
- Male gymnasts should wear shorts and ‘T’ shirts or a male leotard. Female gymnasts should wear a well fitting leotard and if required shorts (over the top of leotard, not underneath).
- Gymnastics is usually conducted in bare feet or gym shoes, socks only are not allowed, unless on trampoline/trampette.
- Sweat tops or tracksuits should be worn (especially during winter months) until warm up has finished. Discarded clothing should then be removed to the changing room.
- Pre-school and Parent Toddler groups may wear shorts and ‘T’ shirt.
- Appropriate gymnastic clothing should be worn for various apparatus work. (e.g. handguards for bars).
- Long hair must be kept back off the face and tied at the back with a hair band or scrunchie. Overuse of metal clips is discouraged as this can cause harm to both gymnast and coach.
- In accordance with the BG directive regarding dress, glitter and make up is not allowed. (Hair glitter as well as face/body glitter).
- No body jewellery is allowed to be worn during training, this includes any form of earring, ’friendship bands’, tongue or stomach jewellery.
- Finger and toenails should be kept clean and short.
Items of clothing with belts, buckles or zips are not to be worn during training
