GymMark

Here at South Devon School of Gymnastics wa are a British Gymnastics GymMark accredited club. We have held this accreditation for 3 years. GymMark marks us as a safe, effective and child friendly club. All our coaches hold appropriate NGB, First Aid and Child Protection qualifications. We have 2 appointed Welfare Officers, a Health and Safety Officer and Volunteer co-ordinator. Since we started on the GymMark process we have doubled our numbers and now run at 300+ members.

Gym Club recognised for quality.

South Devon School of Gymnastics based at the Rotunda, Oldway Mansion, Paignton, has gained GymMark accreditation from British Gymnastics and Sports Mark accreditation from Sport England.

The Gym Mark and Club Mark awards are only given to clubs which demonstrate that they can operate as a safe, effective child friendly club, providing a service in the community that children, young people and adults can trust. Areas that are covered include Health and Safety, Ethics and Welfare, Child Protection as well as safe progressive coaching.

Nicci Tucker, Head Coach, said “the accreditation marks the end of a year of hard work, now we have an award that recognises us as a high quality club. The benefits are being reaped by all."

The Gym Club has been working with Primary Schools across the Bay to promote gymnastics and assist teachers in delivering the gymnastics element of the National Curriculum.

GymMark

In October 2004 the club was awarded both British Gymnastics GymMark and Sport England Club Mark accreditation.

The awards come at the end of 12 months of hard work from the Management team, Coaches and Committee. During that time the club has undergone many changes and improvements.

The British Gymnastics GymMark is awarded to clubs who prove to be effective, safe and child friendly.
