On Friday 30th September and Saturday 1st October 3 of our elite squad gymnasts went to Hemel Hempstead to represent Devon at the Sapphire National Invitational County Competition.

On Friday Hollie and Brooke both 9 competed in the Level 4 County team along with a gymnast from Newton Abbot and another from Exeter. Hollie and Brooke both competed extremely well in what was their first competition representing their County, they both went clean and were 2 of the youngest gymnasts in their level.

The team competed brilliantly against 10 teams from across England and Wales and ended up placing 3rd overall and winners of bronze medal and £40 cash prize. Individually Hollie was the 2nd and Brooke the 3rd highest scorer in Devon Team. Hollie also placed 6th overall a fantastic achievement as many of the gymnasts were at least a year or 2 older than her.

On Saturday Imogen aged 11 competed in the Devon Level 2 team, she was joined with a gymnast from Exeter and 2 from Plymouth. Imogen had an extremely good competition competing new skills successfully on bars and beam, individually she was the 3rd highest scorer in the team.

The team competed extremely well on vault, bars and floor but suffered a few falls on beam, however they still came 3rd place overall and were winners of the bronze medal and £40 cash prize.

All 3 SDSG girls did themselves and the club proud!!
